BC Traffic Control Training School

Road Smart Training Institute Ltd. has been in business performing traffic control training since 1997. Over this time there have been significant changes to the rules and regulations governing Traffic Control People. The most recent changes to the course offerings came into effect in June 2003, whereby all Traffic Control People were to take a new regulated training course.

This course is a must for construction and road maintenance workers or for any person who deals with traffic control as part of their work. A summary of the topics covered are:

• the newest Ministry of Transportation standards & WorkSafe BC regulations & standards
• personal protective equipment and devices
• safe traffic control procedures and set-ups
• communication
• traffic control zones
• includes classroom theory and on-road practical

Finding a reputable training school (see testimonial page) is extremely important for TCP students. We believe that our instructor, Vicki Boesterd, a practicing TCP who has been flagging since 1998, will provide the most comprehensive and useful course to students, combining both course material and professional and practical knowledge to the classroom.

Our goal is to provide students with the best training in traffic control and to keep our roadways safe.

BC Construction Safety Alliance requires that any worker stopping traffic must be certified by a recognized training course. At this time the only recognized training courses are those that are offered through the BC Construction Safety Alliance.

Upon successful completion of the course the instructor will issue the student a temporary TCP certificate which is valid for three months. Within the three months the student will receive a laminated wallet sized picture ID issued by the BC Construction Safety Alliance showing the certificates expiry date as three years from the date of the course.
